This script assumes six to ten attendees, one host, one helper, and a projector. Everyone brings their own laptop. By the end of the hour each attendee has a working Malairte wallet, knows how to back it up, and has seen their first mined coins arrive.

Before attendees arrive

  • Open the wallet download page on the projector.
  • Pre-print one cheat sheet per attendee with the download URL and a six-step summary.
  • Set up your own demo wallet on the projector laptop so you can mirror every step live.
  • Test the Wi-Fi from two seats furthest from the router.

0:00-0:05 Welcome and ground rules

Introduce yourself, the helper, and the rule: no price talk, no shilling, no judgement. Ask everyone to close other apps and plug in their charger.

0:05-0:15 Download and verify

Walk everyone to the official download URL on the cheat sheet. Demonstrate where the file lands on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Pause for the slowest connection in the room before moving on.

0:15-0:30 Install and create a wallet

Run the installer on the projector first, then ask the room to follow. When the wallet opens, click Create new wallet. Stress that the seed phrase on the next screen is the only backup. Hand out blank index cards for attendees to write their seed by hand. Repeat: never type a seed into a website or photo it.

0:30-0:40 Send a tiny test transaction

If you have a community faucet or small balance, send each attendee a fraction of a coin so they see a real incoming transaction. This is the moment most people remember.

0:40-0:55 Start CPU mining

Open the built-in miner or a recommended CLI miner. Configure threads to half the CPU cores so laptops do not overheat. Watch the projector for the first share or block. Cheer when it happens, because someone always does.

0:55-1:00 Close and follow up

Confirm everyone has their seed card and knows where the wallet file lives. Promise a follow-up email within 24 hours with the slides, links, and the date of the next meetup. Stay 15 minutes after for one-on-one questions; that is when the shy attendees ask the best ones.
